Release time: 2026-06-24

Overview: Hemos Bioscience has officially joined Phase I of the Chongqing Biomanufacturing Pilot Platform as a first-core enterprise. Co-established by Bishan District and East China University of Science and Technology with a total investment of RMB 625 million, the platform features a 1L-to-30-ton fermentation system, filling the specialized pilot-scale gap in Southwest China. Leveraging its full-chain scale-up capabilities, Hemos will accelerate process finalization and scaled production of recombinant human keratin, bridging the lab-to-production pathway and supporting the development of Chongqing's 100-billion-yuan biopharmaceutical cluster.

On June 23, Bishan District, in collaboration with East China University of Science and Technology, Bioreactor Engineering The first phase of the Chongqing Biomanufacturing Industrial Pilot Platform, jointly built by national key laboratories, has officially been put into operation at the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Life Science City.

As a global leader in Recombinant Keratin biomaterials, Hemos Bioscience As one of the first core enterprises to officially settle in, this marks the company’s… The process of commercializing research outcomes and the development of large-scale production capacity. Accelerating across the board, we are officially embarking on a new chapter of deep integration into the national bio-manufacturing strategy and establishing ourselves within the Southwest’s industrial ecosystem.

Filling a Gap: Southwest China’s First Pilot-Scale Platform for the Biomanufacturing Industry

Biomanufacturing is a national…   The new growth pole prioritized for development during the 15th Five-Year Plan has been designated by the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee as a key strategic area, alongside quantum technology and brain–machine interfaces. Chongqing Municipality has incorporated it into its “6+3” high-growth future industries framework and the “33618” modern manufacturing cluster system, making every effort to build a biopharmaceutical industry cluster with an output value exceeding 100 billion yuan.

The Chongqing Biomanufacturing Industry Pilot-Scale Platform has a total investment of RMB 625 million. Addressing the industry’s core pain points—“easy at the smallscale, difficult at the pilot scale, unstable scaleup, and sluggish technology transfer”—it has established a… R&D—Pilot Production—Maturation—Mass Production “A professional support system with end-to-end closed-loop capabilities:”

Full‑gradient capacity deployment

Equipped with a gradient fermentation system ranging from 1 liter to 30 tons, Phase I has completed the construction of 182 fermenters and over 1,300 sets of specialized equipment, covering the entire upstream R&D process. Phase II features eight large-scale fermentation modules and 16 flexible separation‑and‑purification modules, capable of meeting the pilot‑scale scale‑up requirements for multiple categories of biopharmaceutical products.

Intelligent Production Control

Leveraging intelligent control of bioprocesses and digital twin systems, we have achieved end-to-end automation across fermentation, purification, and monitoring, reducing the traditional process development cycle by more than 50%.

Deep integration of industry, academia, and research

Integrating the technology of the National Key Laboratory of Bioreactor Engineering at East China University of Science and Technology with Danaher. DBS The lean management system delivers standardized production plans and a full‑process quality control framework, providing mature process packages that can be directly replicated.

This platform fills the gap in specialized biomanufacturing pilot‑scale infrastructure in Southwest China, fundamentally addressing the bottleneck that has long hindered the translation of laboratory‑level research into industrial-scale production.

Strong alliance: Acceleration Recombinant Humanized Keratin Industrialization process

Hemos Biosciencetech, driven by synthetic biology as its core technology, focuses on the research, development, and industrialization of Recombinant Keratin. Its core products have already been commercialized in fields such as hair care, skincare, and oral care.

By establishing a presence on the national-level pilot‑scale testing platform, the company will gain triple momentum in scaling up and commercializing its core technologies:

Accelerated Technology Validation

Leveraging the platform’s end-to-end scaling capabilities, we can rapidly finalize process designs, significantly reducing capital expenditures and trial-and-error costs.

Increased production efficiency

Leveraging an intelligent data system and a DBS management framework, we enhance production efficiency and ensure consistent product quality.

Empowering through industrial resources

Benefit from tailored one‑on‑one services provided by technology managers, a green channel for registration and approval, and other supportive measures to accelerate product market launch.

The platform’s technological validation and resource coordination will strongly facilitate the green manufacturing and large-scale application of Recombinant Keratin.

Leading the Future: Jointly Building a Global Hub for the Biomanufacturing Industry

With innovative companies such as Hemos successively setting up operations, Chongqing’s biomanufacturing pilot‑scale platform is accelerating the development of a diversified industrial ecosystem centered on biopharmaceuticals, greater health, and green agriculture, striving to establish a new biomanufacturing hub that leads the Southwest and enjoys national renown, thereby jointly driving the high‑end, intelligent, and green transformation of Chongqing’s biomanufacturing industry.

Starting from fundamental research conducted in Chongqing University’s laboratories, Hemos Bioscience is forging a complete innovation pathway from “laboratory to production line.” This move to establish a pilot-scale platform represents both the most critical link in that pathway and a milestone marking the company’s true entry onto the fast track of industrialization.

In the future, Hemos Bioscience will continue to deepen its expertise in the field of Recombinant Keratin, solidifying its development foundation through biotechnology and expanding industry boundaries with intelligent manufacturing. It will further strengthen its industrial presence in the Southwest region, contributing to the high-quality development of China’s bio-manufacturing sector and jointly creating a bright future in the life and health field.
